Top 5 Best Coffee Shops in Downtown Phoenix

I spent about a year living in Downtown Phoenix, and during that time, I discovered some amazing coffee shops that became my go-to spots. Whether you’re in the mood for a laid-back latte or something a bit more gourmet, here are my top five favorite coffee shops in Downtown Phoenix that are definitely worth a visit.

Coffee Builder’s

I had the chance to visit Coffee Builder’s for work right when it first opened, and after just one visit, I was completely hooked. Without a doubt, this has become my favorite coffee shop in all of Arizona—a must-try for both locals and visitors alike. Each drink is expertly crafted with a rich, coffee-forward taste perfectly complemented by their inventive flavors. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but my personal favorites are the Slopes, Strawberry Fields, and Orange Blossom. Coffee Builder’s also has a rotating menu of seasonal drinks that are always worth trying. The food is just as exceptional. One standout is their caviar deviled egg—a perfectly prepared deviled egg topped with a generous amount of caviar, taking the dish to a whole new level of deliciousness.

Songbird Coffee & Tea House

Songbird Coffee and Tea House is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Downtown Phoenix. Nestled in a charming, house-like building, this cozy spot stands out with its unique ambiance. Unlike most places downtown, Songbird is surrounded by lush greenery, making it feel like you’re in a garden. It’s the perfect coffee shop to visit, especially as we head into the cooler months, since they have plenty of outdoor seating and vibrant green wooden swing. While the drinks aren’t over-the-top, they deliver exactly what you need—a simple yet satisfying coffee experience.

Harlem Coffee

While Harlem Coffee isn’t technically located in Downtown Phoenix—it’s a mobile coffee cart that travels around the valley—it has a residency at Sauvage Wine Bar and Shop from Monday to Friday, making it a perfect spot to check out if you’re in the area. The cozy vibe at Sauvage makes it an ideal place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or matcha. Whether you’re popping in for a quick caffeine fix or settling in for a leisurely morning, this spot feels like a hidden treasure.

Caffio

Caffio is one of the most unique coffee shops in Downtown Phoenix. Nestled behind Pueblo, a charming plant shop, you’ll find the cozy coffee truck surrounded by lush greenery. As the weather cools down, Caffio is the perfect spot to enjoy a peaceful coffee break. With just a few benches and tables, it offers an intimate, garden-like atmosphere. While it’s not ideal for working, it’s the perfect place to unwind with a good book or journal and soak in the sun.

Kahvi Coffee + Cafe

Kahvi Coffee + Cafe was one of the first coffee shops I discovered in Downtown Phoenix and has remained a favorite ever since. They are known for their projector that constantly plays aesthetic videos. I always opt for one of their seasonal coffee drinks—they never disappoint with their unique flavor combinations. The food is equally impressive. I often go for the food and leave with both a delicious meal and a coffee in hand. My go-to is the Commuter Sandwich, an elevated breakfast sandwich packed with flavor.
